Oscars 2011 - My Losers

Sharon Stone - trying far too hard! And please...lay off the botox.

Jennifer Hudson in Versace - now I love aspects of this dress but I just don't think it works.
And I know she's a mum, but I think she needs something without such a plunging neckline.

Nicole Kidman in Dior - I just think she looks a bit messy?
The styling is just really off for me.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein - meh.  And stand up straight!!

Oscars 2011 - My Winners

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy - my favourite of the night - stunning!

Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa - soft, feminine and age appropriate - lovely.

Mandy Moore in Monique L'Hullier - now that is how you do sequins!

Michelle Williams in Chanel - demure and elegant - doesn't quite beat the
yellow Vera Wang, but this is lovely on her.

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab - love how her look
contrasts so much with her Black Swan character.

Natalie Portman in Rodarte - some may claim this is boring, but I think it is the
perfect Oscar winner dress.  Classic design which complements her pregnat
figure perfectly.  And love the mulberry colour as well.

Clearly I have a thing about nude and purple this year!

Wish List Wednesday

Nautical

L-R Topshop dress, Topshop skirt, ASOS earrings, River Island tee, Gipsy (at ASOS) tights

Nauticals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.  Sorry - couldn't resist.  The original line may have attacked the predictability of florals but nautical designs are just as significant come spring.  Does this make me want them any less? Of course not!

It may still (just) be February but I'm already pulling on my breton tees and hoping that soon they won't be covered up by my big fat winter coat.  I'm also lusting after some of the latest nautical inspired offerings out on the high street - I particularly love Topshop's striped pencil skirt and boat print dress and the adorable anchor print tights by Gipsy at ASOS.

Viva Glam Gaga 2

I'm not normally a big nude lipstick kinda girl (pale blue tone pinks and brights have become my trademark) but I LOVE this colour! For some strange reason I held off getting the original Viva Glam Gaga until a couple of months ago but I will not be doing the same this time around.

The colour is a soft nude with a enough of a hint of peach to prevent me looking corpse like...I'm hoping it will do for me what Creme D'Nude (which remains unworn in my make up bag) does for others.  And not only that, every penny of the proceeds goes towards fighting AIDS.  Anyone know the release date for the UK?

Loafers

After previously dismissing loafers on the simple fact that I have big feet, I now have a real craving to grab a pair or two.  I've recently bought some mannish peg leg trousers and I think that loafers are the perfect accompaniment - as long as they are simple...and don't make my feet look like a man's! I think the Office version above are the current winners, but at £58 I'm definitely looking for a cheaper alternative - so let me know if you've seen any!

French Connection

Jumpsuit (£97) Maxi (£87) Dress (£115) Trousers (£75) *gulp*
I really can't justify purchasing any of these lovely pieces (seriously FC, chill out on the prices) but I want them all - wah!

So that is my wishlist for another week...tell me...what's on yours?

Lauren Conrad - Paper Crown

If you're a die hard Hills fan such as myself you may have been dismayed to hear that MTV dropped Lauren Conrad's latest show for being too 'high brow'.  But all is not lost, as LC's new clothing range, the focus of the show, has just been revealed and I have to say - the girl done good!

Very much based on her own wardrobe, the Fall 2011 collection is made up of soft colours, flowing fabrics and easy to wear separates and dresses.  The tiered maxi dresses and the high waisted leather skirts are particular favourites of mine and I could picture her wearing everything...which for someone with as many loyal fans as LC must be a good thing.

I'm definitely not usually a fan of 'celebrity designers' (hello Colleen Rooney!) but there are a few lines that do catch my attention - including this one.

Now we just have to hope that come Autumn it hits the UK! What do you think?  Any favourites?

Wish List Wednesday

After slacking a little on the ol' blog recently *slaps wrist* I've decided to add a new weekly feature to showcase my must have fashion/beauty item(s)...and in doing so, invite you to tell me yours.

What are you unable to get out of your mind? Have you found yourself reaching for your credit card as despite being a week before payday, you just cannot go another minute without a certain something in your life?  And what, if money was no object, would you snap up in a second?  Let me know :)

Topshop Chiffon Maxi, £65
I ADORE this dress.  The colour is spot on for this season and the shape is perfect for a pear shaped leg hater like me.  I think it would look lovely with a gold plaited waist belt and delicate sandals for all of those occasions in the spring and summer months.  I'd also be tempted to toughen it up with a cropped leather jacket and stacks of necklaces.  See...it's totally versatile!

Mulberry, £51-117
Since I bought myself a Mulberry Bayswater just after Christmas (thank you Christmas money!) I now cannot stop lusting after their wonderful key rings and bag charms...wouldn't the pink bunny look adorable against the soft black leather? Or perhaps the secret love charm jangling as I walk, bag in arm?  Mulberry, you have cast your spell on me, and I am happily under it :)

John Frieda 3 Day Straight, £6.99
With my thick curly mane of hair, anything that promises three days of straightness is an instant pull for me...the only thing holding me back from purchasing is the worry that I can't use it with any other styling products such as moroccan oil, which is a godsend for me.  I also have a whole bag full of tried, tested and unconvincing products at home which makes me reluctant to shell out my cash (albeit only 7 quid) for something that will just add to this pile.  Have any of you tried this? Is it worth forsaking all other products for this...or should I hold out until something else better comes along?

So that's my wishlist for this Wednesday.  What's on yours?
