Harem pants - yay....or nay??

It's coming up to that time of year when I start to think about my spring/summer wardrobe, particularly when it comes to workwear. Having previously worked in creative environments where I could wear whatever I wanted, I now work in an office where the dress code is 'smart' but with quite a lot of leeway.

I'm starting to get a bit fed up of the same old tunics and dresses I wear everyday and have started to consider some other options...namely trousers. Now I love my leggings and my skinny jeans, but as I have been blessed with big hips and a bum I tend to steer clear of trousers, rarely finding a pair that fit.

Yet I came across Jen's post last night and have been pondering whether harem pants are the way forward - I considered getting a pair last summer but was too scared of the 'nappy' look. Yet I think that the smarter style trousers would look great with a smart vest or tee, a cardy and ballet pumps and would be perfect for work.

So...I'm opening it up to you guys - are they a yay or a nay? Would these flatter my hips or make me look like an elephant?

Here are some of the styles I've been eyeing up, to help you make your decision :) If you've seen any others around, please let me know!

  1. For my body shape, nay! But that girl in the picture pulls it off quite well!

  2. Personally I'm not keen on them but I guess it depends on your body shape and style x

  3. I think if you can pull it off then go for it! They are super cute on the right body type. For me they would just add 30 pounds to my hips. ;)
