Wish List Wednesday

It may be the time of year (hello fireworks and early Christmas lights!) but there's a lot of sparkle on my mind right now...

'Rainbow Connection', OPI

I am a big fan of OPI polishes, particularly the duo-chromes and glitters...pretty much the best you can get.  This crazy multi-coloured glitter polish is from the new Muppets collection and really really must be mine!

Black embellished shoulder dress, £55, Warehouse

Simple yet with enough sequins to make an impact - this dress is the perfect addition to a winter party wardrobe.

Lurex sweater, £44, Topshop

Perfect layer for the daytime, or ideal to dress up with some skinnies and a pair of killer heels - I love this sweater.

Glitter enamel earrings, £10, ASOS

Love these earrings - the statement shape is bold without being girly and the glitter enamel makes them the ideal partner for the LBDs I'll (hopefully) be donning around Christmas.  They'd look fab with jeans and a t-shirt too, no?

Wish List Wednesday - Gay Paree

Next Friday I am off to Paris for a long weekend - excited much?!

I haven't been there for absolute years and I cannot wait to stroll around the Parisian streets, gorge myself on patisserie and swoon over the designer stores.  Oh and maybe fit in a sneaky trip to Disneyland too...well it would be rude not to right?

I'm on a strict budget so rather than a pre-trip shop I will be raiding the wardrobe, but this is what I would love to be wearing next weekend...

Sequin poodle sweater, £290, Marcus Lupfer at Glassworks Studios

Black pleated leather skirt, £95, Topshop

Cream jewel neckline dress, £60, Topshop

Black quilted leather jacket, £150, Warehouse
Black strap detail boots, £65, River Island

Croc embossed leather clutch, £60, ASOS

Black studded gloves, £25.99, Zara

Oh that's a lot of black! What's on your wishlist this week? Do you have any Paris tips for me? Let me know!

Wish List Wednesday

It feels a bit fickle to be writing about clothes and beauty when there is so much else going on right now, so my main wish this week is that you and your families are all safe and well.

But I don't know, rather than denouncing all things 'shallow', perhaps it is best to carry on as normal, as best as we can, to prove that mindless idiots can't dominate our every thought.  So here we go, a few pieces from some of my top UK retailers to prove that there are some fabulous things to be proud of in even the bleakest times.

Burgundy chiffon blouse, £35, Topshop

Cream lace belted dress, £35, River Island

Floral maxi dress, £40, Miss Selfridge

Really horrible to see the Manchester store yesterday - here's hoping they get back up
soon as there are some wonderful pieces at the moment.
Mustard belt, £28, Warehouse

Leopard print boots, £60, ASOS

See - something to be proud of.

Hope you all stay safe and this all blows over soon.  I feel so much for all of the people who have lost their homes, cars and livelihoods to this mindless vandalism and hope they can all receive the help they deserve.

Wish List Wednesday

What a conundrum.  I start to stock up on pieces for my autumn wardrobe and the weather finally heats up, relegating my long sleeved dresses, trousers and knitwear to the back of my wardrobe.

So this week's wishlist is all about transitional items, that can be taken from the humid 30 degree heat we're expecting today, to the cooler climes of September and October....

Sailor blouse, £39, Miss Selfridge

Perfect teamed with jeans or tucked into a skirt, this blouse is light enough for the summer months and the long sleeves and soft colour ensure it will 'work' well into the autumn.

Pink chunky knit sweater, £35.99, Zara
Ok, so this may not be suitable for the 30 degree daytime heat, but I think it would be the perfect sweater to chuck over a delicate summer dress for those evenings spent lounging in a beer garden.  And as it gets cooler, how lovely would it look over a little skirt and black opaques, or teamed with jeans and pumps?  Definite must buy for me.

Burgundy jersey maxi skirt, £25, River Island
The maxi skirt is one of the best transitional pieces you can get.  Worn with sandals and a vest when it's scorching, or teamed with a leather jacket and ankle boots when it's cool.  And I love the colour (and price) of this River Island number.

Silk printed midi dress, £80, Warehouse
This midi dress is stunning, and would look just as good teamed with sandals as with ankle boots and a leather jacket.

What's on your wishlist this week?

Wish List Wednesday

I'm starting to have to think hard and fast about my wishlists as my birthday is only a couple of weeks away (1st August people, mark it in your calendars 'kay?) and I am getting those inevitable groans of "what do you actually want then?".

Frustratingly, my birthday always comes at an awkward time, with the dregs of the sale still floating around the high street and only the first few items of the new season starting to appear...so as much as I would love  new clothes, I have to work hard to find what I think will become my autumn staples.

But they are starting to show...and these are some of the things that have been catching my eye so far...

Blue boxy jacket, £55, Warehouse
Ultramarine is a huge colour for the new season and this jacket is not only the perfect hue, but is also a great way to incorporate the masculine tailoring that dominated many a catwalk.

Black lace dress, £87, French Connection
Black lace is an autumn/winter classic and this dress is a lovely way to get it into your wardrobe - it also comes in a soft pale pink and navy - and is a great update of the Erdem inspired red lace numbers that have been everywhere this summer.

Embroidered leather clutch, £25, Topshop
This clutch is the perfect nod to the arts and crafts trend I picked up on in my A/W Round Up back in March and also works perfectly for summer (yes that abstract concept of sunshine and warm weather) - and for 25 quid? A positive bargain.

Leopard print leather boots, £35, Topshop

Chelsea Boots.  Leopard Print.  Ponyskin.  I'm there.

Have you picked up anything for your new season wardrobe yet? Spotted any must haves?
